Places of interest

In the 8th century the Abbye was founded on top of the Sint-Petrusberg by three Anglo-Saxon priests: Plechelmus, Wiro and Otger. Later the village of Sint Odilienberg arose below the hill.
There are no surface remains of the original Abbey. It is known that it was a one nave building with a West work and a smaller choir. In the 11th and 12th century the complete church was replaced. The present church is only partly original. After neglecting the building for centuries it has been restored between 1880 and 1883 by P.J.H. Cuypers. On the base of the remaining parts, the missing parts were reconstructed. The Holy Masses are every workday at 8.00 AM, Wednesday also at 19.00 PM and on Sunday at 09.30 AM. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:Standaardtabel; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0cm; mso-para-margin-right:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0cm; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;}
