Places of interest

Have you spotted it yet? This special bench near the Great Church in Venray?

On the other side

The bench bears the words 'On the other side' and symbolizes the different perspectives one can look back on the Second World War. The bench was commissioned by the Tourist-Recreational Platform Venray and designed by Tomas Snels of Tomas Concept + Creation from 's-Hertogenbosch, manufactured by artist Juul Baltussen from Westerbeek and installed by Construction Company Eijssen from Geijsteren.

Bike route

You may have seen this bench before in another place. There are six more. The first six benches are part of the cycle route 'On the other side', a special cycle route (59 km) that connects two remarkable places: the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn in Limburg and the War Museum in Overloon in Brabant. On this route the benches are landmarks that mark six experience points. At those benches you can experience a perspective of the Second World War through an augmented reality video that you project into the environment with the Venray Remembers app on your smartphone.
