Crisp water and a red soil brimming with iron. Can you see the stream coming out of the ground and flowing into the brook? The brook forms the natural border between the Netherlands and Germany. A special plant, gale, also grows here. This used to be used instead of hops for brewing beer. Gale beer has recently become available again in Roerdalen. It is a delicious wood for the whole family.

You reach the Knuppel-path when you take walking node 79 from the car park opposite Café van Kempen. You then walk along the boardwalk to junctions 78, 77 and 76. The length of the trail is about 4 kilometres.
