Via the war memorial, erected in memory of the twenty inhabitants of Holthees-Smakt who died during the 1940-1945 war, you go in the direction of the Maria chapel. From here you can see the diversion canal with marshland (Op de Bus). This lies in the old, low basin of the Meuse.
The walking route starts and ends at Cafe-Restaurant 't Pelgrimshuis. Attention: The walking part in Brabant is marked with "green-yellow" plates and in Limburg with "silver-coloured" plates.
