Prehistorische urnenvelden

The urn field at Raak (close to Molenakker) dates back to the Early  Iron Age between 800 and 500 BC. The urn field is 3 hectare. Remains of 262 graves and Grave monuments  were found. Mostly  grave pits with funeral ashes. In 132 graves remains are kept in an urn. Besides funeral ashes are found in long beds. The man shaped graves have a special place in the urnfield culture, as only  masters of the family  were  buried in here. In this Weerter urn field the special position of these important deceased  is still visible by their seperate section.
