An experience for feet and mind
The barefoot path at the NMC is not your average nature walk. You walk across different surfaces, from soft grass to crackling gravel. What makes this path unique are the unexpected materials along the way. Think of empty chip bags, candy wrappers or other packaging. This way, you feel not only nature under your feet but also the traces people leave behind.
Waste as part of the route
Along the way, you feel what it's like to walk on litter. That might seem odd, but this very experience is what makes the path powerful. It reminds you of what gets left behind in nature when people don’t clean up. The path is meant to make you feel something — and to make you think.
Created with sustainability in mind
The path was designed with reuse in mind. For example, the gravel used on the route came from a front yard in Weert, and many materials are second-hand. Instead of ending up in the landfill, they found a new purpose on the path. Sustainable and thoughtful.
For young and old
Everyone is welcome to experience the path. Children often see it as an adventure, while adults appreciate the message. The path is freely accessible during the opening hours of the NMC grounds. Sturdy feet, a little courage and an open mind are all you need.
