The hydroelectric station came in 1916 in the hands of the ECI.The hydroelectric station has supplied electricity to the grid from September 1944 until the end of February 1945. In 1974 the ECI stopped its production and also the water plant was taken out of order. On 8th of September 2000 the ECI hydroelectric station is, after 26 years standstill, back into use by Nederstroom.
The installation of 1920 has been restored and a modern hydro-power plant is installed with an output of 250 kWe.
