The Effelder Waldsee was created in the middle of the last century by gravel extraction. The lake is located in the idyllic nature reserve of Maas - Schwalm - Nette. To the south of the lake is the pretty village of Effeld, which is known for its asparagus. To the north, right behind the Dutch border, is the Gitstapper Mill.
Around the lake is a beautiful forest where you can walk and cycle.
At the Effelder Waldsee, you will also find the Amici Beach day beach with the Amici Lodges campsite.
