Gerelingsplas

Gerelingsplas

Recreational water

The Gerelingsplas was created by gravel extraction. Remnants of gravel, sand and clay can still be found on the bottom. Above this, however, is a layer of fine sand.

This lake is deepened so that the remaining part of the loop can be better equipped for nature. The area is covered with willow forest, among other things, and forms a breeding ground for all sorts of bird species. The water does not meet the standards for safe swimming water, so it is not recommended to swim here. For recreational navigation, this lake is still open together with the Zuidplas and the Oolderplas.
