Guided Tours

This guided tour focuses  on the life and work of Pierre Cuypers - the famous architect and designer who was born, raised and laid to rest in Roermond.

From the Rijksmuseum to the Munsterkerk

The most famous works by architect Pierre Cuypers are the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam Central Station and Kasteel de Haar in Haarzuilens. He also restored the ‘Ridderzaal’ in The Hague, including the throne. His legacy also left impressive traces in Roermond. During this guided walk you will visit well-known and lesser-known works by Cuypers in the city centre.

The Munsterkerk and the Teekenschool

A highlight of the tour is the Munsterkerk a 13th century Romanesque church. The VVV guide will tell you about Cuypers' role in the restoration of the church in the 19th century.
On weekdays, you will also visit the Teekenschool, a school designed by Cuypers. The design of the interior shows how he combined craftsmanship and education.
