Mill of Nijs, the Sint Oda mill
In 1884, the 'Molen van Nijs', one of the most ornate windmills in Weert, was built on the Hoogenakker in the hamlet of Vrakker. The mill was named Sint Oda, after Saint Odilia, who is venerated in a little chapel in Boshoven. Until 2002, millers from the Weerter family Nijs always milled here. The Sint Oda mill was known as an industrious mill. Eventually, however, this business also came to an end: in 2002, the mill was milled for the last time. After that, the mill changed hands several times, which did not help its condition.
