Area of natural beauty

Places of interest

At the Boesheide viewpoint, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Roermond-East nature reserve, which stretches from the city of Roermond to the border with Germany.

The viewpoint offers a beautiful view of the diverse Roermond-East natural area. The region around Asenray and surrounding villages such as Thuserhof and Spik is characterized by a unique landscape variety. On the eastern side of the border with Germany, there is a steep slope where the height difference between the German hinterland and the Netherlands is clearly visible. Here, the Maasnielderbeek stream also originates, flowing from Germany through Roermond and eventually into the Maas River.

The area around the viewpoint is rich in nature, with heathlands, forests, and sand dunes such as the Melickerheide and Luzenkamp. These form an important ecological connection between Roermond and the De Meinweg National Park. Visitors can enjoy this valuable landscape, home to protected bird species, and where water storage helps combat drought.
