What is there to see?
The museum offers a wide range of opportunities for visitors, with a strong emphasis on history and textiles. One section of the museum hall houses a permanent exhibition of objects, display cases, materials and videos about Horst's textile history. The highlight of this exhibition is the display showing the process of lace making, from thread to finished lace, using six lace bobbin machines - historical heritage on which lace is still made from various materials. In the other part of the hall, there are two exhibition rooms with changing exhibits, showing beautiful old and new art forms, always with a link to textiles and textile work forms from the past and present. In these changing exhibitions, the work of textile artists is often combined with creations of other techniques, with a nod to textiles.
Kant-ine
The museum offers even more, however. In the Kant-ine, you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or tea in a cozy living room atmosphere, possibly accompanied by real Limburg flan. Here you'll also find the museum store, where hostesses will welcome you warmly and show you the way.
Textile library
On the second floor you will find an extensive textile library with more than 12,000 books on textiles and crafts. These books can be borrowed for a small fee. You can also borrow books by e-mail: textielbibliotheek@museumdekantfabriek.nl. In addition, second-hand books are offered at attractive prices, just like in the Kant-ine.
Horst Historical Circle
This section also houses the Historical Circle Horst, with genealogies from the Land of Kessel and regional history. In the classroom there is an exhibition of objects excavated from the former smithy in Horst. The classroom also hosts courses, workshops and lectures.
