Minimalist

Because you travel with minimal luggage, doing the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela is a huge challenge but, above all, a personal victory. How you complete the Pilgrimage of St James is different for everyone. Some do one stage a year; from the Netherlands, the route is about 2,400 kilometres long. While there are also pilgrims who take a sabbatical to complete the route.

Camino through Limburg

When you decide to follow the Saint James path, we recommend you seek advice from the Dutch Society of Saint James. In Limburg, the Foundation Pilgrims' Ways to St James is active. Together with the route managers, they ensure, among other things, the correct signposting of the Jacob's path through Limburg. In Roermond, there is the possibility for pilgrims to spend the night in the refugio of St Christopher's Cathedral. On presentation of the pilgrim's pass, a personal credential and a €5 payment, you will receive the keys to the refugio at Theaterhotel de Oranjerie.
