The Maasplassen in Limburg

The Maasplassen are one of the most beautiful places in Limburg. A vast water area full of large and small lakes, created by gravel extraction. Together, they form the largest continuous water sports area in the Netherlands - good for more than 3,000 hectares of water fun. Most of the Maasplassen are in the municipalities of Maasgouw and Roermond, where you will find plenty of opportunities for water sports, nature experiences and relaxation. Gravel extraction has created a unique nature area around the Maasplassen, where you now find flowery banks, water birds and galloway cattle and konik horses grazing freely.

What makes the Maasplassen so special? You can do almost any kind of water sport. Think stand up paddle boarding, sailing, swimming and wakeboarding. For a relaxing day at a beach, a round trip or a nice trip with a (rental) boat, this is also the right place. Along the waterfront there are cosy terraces where you can enjoy a snack and a drink with a view of the lake.
