Places of interest

Hidden in the greenery, surrounded by the moat and ramparts of the Boshoverschans, lies the St Oda Chapel. An place where time seems to stand still. The chapel (1722) is dedicated to St. Oda and Apollonia. The Boshoverschans is the best-preserved historical peasant entrenchment in the Netherlands.

The Boshoverschans

Entrenchments are defensive works that protected residents from marauding troops in the past. The Boshoverschans is a culturally unique area and designated a municipal protected village sight. The enclosed rampart dates from the 1st half of the 17th century. A very rare feature of this entrenchment is that the original subdivision into small plots measuring approximately 5 x 5 m is still partly intact. This entrenchment is the best preserved historical peasant entrenchment in the Netherlands.
