When opening archives, it becomes increasingly clear that a major battle took place between Allies and Germans during the Second World War in Meijel. More than 100 soldiers died during this battle and more than 50 tanks were lost.
Allied Soldiers Monument
On 24 October 2009, this monument to the Allied Soldiers was unveiled. The monument wants to keep the memory alive, to the many soldiers from America, Scotland and England, who fought to liberate Meijel in October-November 1944.
