The Oolderplas is also called the Oolerplas, and refers to the hamlet of Ool. This lake was created by gravel extraction and is extremely suitable for quiet recreation and water sports. There are two windsurfing centres. The water surface is 1.5 km long and 1 km wide.

The two windsurfing centres are surfing club Drusus and windsurfing centre Roermond. Surfclub Drusus is only accessible for members. At windsurfcenter Roermond day recreation is possible for a small fee. They have a 450 metres well-mowed grass beach and a playground. There are enough parking places, changing cabins and toilets, and even in the weekends there is often a snack wagon. You can also hire surfing gear, canoes, kayaks and catamarans. For someone who wants to learn how to surf, this is the right location, the windsurfing centre provides surfing lessons for beginners. The windsurfing centre is open to members only from 2 November 2020 to 28 March 2021.

Furthermore, the hotel and restaurant De Oolderhof and the hotel suites are located directly at the Oolderplas. The Oolderhof. The hotel has a landing stage for day trippers. In the summer a beach club is built there where you can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat.
