Starting at the Abbey Church
The walk begins on Kerkberg, in front of the impressive Abbey Church. This Gothic church has dominated the townscape for centuries and evokes the grandeur of a French cathedral. From here, you wander through the narrow streets and squares of the white town.
Along monuments and museums
The route leads you past 21 historical buildings and landmarks. You’ll walk by the local tourist office (VVV), housed in a monumental building, and Museum Thorn, where you can dive into the town’s rich abbey history.
A town full of stories
Thorn was founded in the 10th century as a Benedictine convent and grew into a place full of heritage and tradition. As you walk, you’ll notice how that history is still visible in the architecture and atmosphere of the town centre.
