RivierPark Maasvallei

RivierPark Maasvallei stretches along the river Meuse. The area covers 15,000 ha, stretching from Maastricht to Thorn on the Dutch and Belgian sides of the Meuse. It consists of an extensive network of river arms, embankments, stream channels, gravel ponds, rambling areas and floodplains. It is an area with its own face and with some monumental historical towns, such as Thorn and Stevensweert on the Dutch side, but also many beautiful villages on the Belgian side along the Meuse. 

Hiking in RivierPark Maasvallei

Several beautiful hiking trails run through RivierPark Maasvallei. Here you can explore the banks of the Meuse in both Dutch Limburg and Belgian Limburg. This beautiful area is excellent to discover on foot.

Cycling in RivierPark Maasvallei

You can also explore RivierPark Maasvallei perfectly on a two-wheeler. For example, cycle through the white town of Thorn, Maaseik (Belgium), Maasbracht and Wessem and across the island in the Meuse with the towns of Ohé and Laak and Stevensweert.

Long Distance Walk (LDW)

Awarded the Most Beautiful Walking Route of the Year in Benelux 2021! This Long Distance Route is fully signposted. Ideal starting places are the access villages on both banks of the Meuse in the Netherlands and Belgium.  Start, for example, in Stevensweert or in Thorn. Strolling along the Meuse alternates with stretches through charming Meuse villages.
