Visit the mills of MolenNetwerk KempenBroek
Within KempenBroek, there are no fewer than 30 water mills and 19 windmills that still turn regularly. Most of these mills can also be visited. This makes KempenBroek the most attractive and most varied mill region in the south of the Netherlands. Some of these mills have a history dating back hundreds of years. A visit to the windmills in Weert is always possible when a mill is running, the mill gate is open or the blue pennant is out at the mill. In addition, mill days with tours, demonstrations and other activities are regularly held at the mills on Wednesdays, Saturdays and sometimes Sundays. Today, the volunteer millers and mill enthusiasts within KempenBroek work closely together on both sides of the border in organising joint activities and events at their mills.
Open for children
Every 1st Wednesday of the month, Tungelroy's Sint Anna mill is open in the afternoon especially for children. The Sint Anna mill on Keenterstraat in Weert is open every 2nd Wednesday afternoon of the month and every 3rd Wednesday afternoon of the month, as is windmill De Nijverheid on Veldstraat in Stramproy. The Sint Jansmolen on the Molenweg in Stramproy opens its gates every 2nd and 4th Wednesday afternoon of the month. In addition, at least one (but often several) of Weerter's mills is always open on Saturdays.
