Cycling past asparagus and local products
Along the route, you pass several sales points and fields where asparagus is grown. Just after junction 49, you cycle along the Sint Elisabethsdreef in Haelen and pass the Oppe Haes asparagus farm at Eind 4 after about 250 metres. A great place to stop and experience the season up close.
The atmosphere of the asparagus season
From mid-April until 24 June, the region revolves around the harvest of the “Queen of Vegetables.” Restaurants feature asparagus on their menus and along the roads you’ll see the familiar sales signs and large asparagus displays. You notice it everywhere: this is all about fresh and local.
Also worth it outside the season
Even outside the asparagus season, this route remains attractive. You cycle through open landscapes, along the canal and through quiet forest areas. This way, you experience Leudal in different moods throughout the year.
