When these gentlemen in the nearby Neer have built a new castle, they called this Neyenghoor and therefore responding to this castle in Haelen renamed Aldenghoor (respectively Ghoor new and old Ghoor). Aldenghoor Castle is entirely surrounded by canals. The main building dates from the seventeenth century and features a fifteenth-century tower.
Nowadays you can stay here overnight, have a delicious meal, celebrate a party and even get married. There are also plenty of opportunities for business meetings. The castle is fully intact and open to the public.
