Musea Maaseik

Welcome to Musea Maaseik, consisting of three museums in the historic heart of Maaseik: the Pharmacy Museum, the Regional Archaeological Museum and the Church Treasures of St. Catherine.

Explore Belgium's oldest private pharmacy with beautifully decorated counters, rare jars and fragrant herbs. Go back to the 18th century and experience the apothecary's craft. In the replica cabinet, you can work as an old apothecary yourself, from weighing herbs to twisting pills.

In the Regional Archaeological Museum, take a journey through time from prehistory to modern times through archaeological finds from the Meuse and Bosbeek valleys. Discover mammoth teeth, Roman jewelry and more. Finish in the Discovery Cellar with 22 hands-on activities, where you'll learn the techniques of yesteryear.

The Church Treasures of St. Catherine reveal a hidden gem in the Meuse Country. Discover weavings and embroideries from the 8th century, rare early medieval relics and majestic silverware by Flemish Masters. The Church Treasures is also home to the Codex Eyckensis, the oldest evangeliary in the Benelux. However, it currently resides temporarily at KU Leuven for research and conservation.
