There is only one way to explore the Peel and that is with your hiking boots on. Although the area is still very marshy here and there, thanks to the many paths the Peel is easily accessible.
The Sparrowhawk Trail leads you over old peeling tracks, past a bird watching cabin, a viewing tower and over bat paths to the border of Brabant and Limburg. This is where Staatsbosbeheer purchased agricultural land that is now managed as meadow bird areas. The black-tailed godwit breeds here and in winter many geese can be found.
